Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) is better known under her professional title Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. Her first single was released for the label on Oct. 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she gained recognition. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012 following the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued to post her music on the internet, as well as her own single Bound. Sweat It is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's references. In the following season, the music circulated throughout Dreamville. Her announcement to be signed by Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. Backseat, a track she performed alongside Cozz on her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. Her Pho EP was released on her debut EP on October 21, 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening act. In 2018, she performed in two songs, with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video came out on the 5th. In November, she dropped two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 13, she released two more singles called The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on the 26th of February, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured alongside Cole in the Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. A music video debuted on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within a period of a week, the video had more than 3,000,000 views. In December of 2018 the singer was a part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
